An Opportunity to Serve, prayer guide

An Opportunity to Serve prayer guides are available as a hard copy to use when enlisting people to serve at First Baptist.  Here is the online version.

An Opportunity to Serve

First Baptist prayerfully considers members for leadership positions.  As you are made aware of needs, or perhaps you’ve been asked to serve, we ask that you, too, prayerfully consider serving your church.  The nominating committee will join with you in following this guide as you make your decision:

WORSHIP – Begin your prayer time with thanksgiving and praise:  thanksgiving for the opportunity to serve Christ; praise for His saving grace in your life.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!  Give thanks to Him; bless His name!  (Psalm 100:4)

SUBMIT – Jesus said that the devil is only mindful of the things of men, not of God (Mark 8:33).  Pray right now that as you submit to God, you will be mindful of the things of God.

Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  (James 4:7)

LISTEN – Give the Holy Spirit time to give you peace about how you can serve Christ.  Leave your prayer time open.

Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people, His saints.  (Psalm 85:8b)

RESPOND – By privately worshipping, submitting, and listening, you are closer to making a decision to serve Christ through your church.

And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him.  (I John 3:22)

You might have other questions to ask before making a commitment.  Use the comment box below to let us know where you feel the Holy spirit leading you to serve.

And don’t forget to search this website for more equipping information.

Thank you for considering your role in kingdom-work at First Baptist!
