Know Jesus

How to become a Christian

A problem the Bible calls sin affects every person.  It separates us from God’s original plan of fellowship with Him.  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  (Romans 3:23)

God loves us and wants to help us come to Him.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  (Romans 5:8)

Our sin carries the penalty of death, both physical and spiritual.  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Romans 6:23)

God is willing to forgive us by accepting Jesus as our substitute.  His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins.  Jesus’ resurrection from the dead provides eternal life.  If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  (Romans 10:9)

You can trust God’s promise.  For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  (Romans 10:13)

Tell it to God:  Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that You brought Him back to life.  I want Your forgiveness of my sins, so I confess that Jesus is my Lord.  Thank You for forgiving me and giving me eternal life.  I now commit my life to walk in the power of Your Holy Spirit as I live my life for Jesus.  In His name I pray, amen.

Here’s some inspiration to help you along:

Before the throne of God above, I have a strong, a perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands, my name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heaven He stands, no tongue can bid me there depart;
No tongue can bid me there depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair and tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there, who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died my sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied to look on Him and pardon me;
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there the risen Lamb, my perfect spotless righteousness;
The great unchangeable I AM, the King of glory and of grace.
One with Himself I cannot die, my soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!
