Abiding and Abounding:
A Biblical and Practical Guide to Spiritual Disciplines
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. (John 15:4)
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10b)
How can we abide in—remain in, live in—Christ? How does He abide in us (in practical terms)? How can we have the abundant, fruit-bearing life to which Christ calls us and desires for us? Dallas Willard said, “The abundance of God to our lives, our families, and our ministries is not passively received or imposed and does not happen to us by chance. It is claimed and put into action by our active, intelligent pursuit of it.”
In this four-week class we will examine what abiding and abounding in Christ involves as we study some of the classic spiritual disciplines from both Biblical and practical perspectives. It will offer an opportunity for mutual collaboration and encouragement and provide some helpful guides and models for you in your own private walk with the Lord. There will be something for everyone, whether you’re just getting started or you’re experienced but want to expand your devotional life.
